Daily Devotion 08/01/18
Matthew 6:19-21 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
One of the many reasons why we give offerings to the Lord is because it reminds us that life is more than the wealth of this world. Each of our hearts are hardwired to trust in something or someone. If we aren’t careful, our trust quickly goes to wealth. As we give to the Lord our offerings, our hearts are refocused on the real treasure: heaven! As we give our offerings, we remember that we have forgiveness, we have a Father in heaven taking care of us, and we have all the riches of heaven that we look forward to when the Lord calls us home. Though the only way we get there is through faith and trust in Jesus. As we give, our faith and trust is strengthened as our Father takes care of our needs every moment. So be generous! All the treasures of heaven are yours!
