Daily Devotion 08/17/18

Psalm 73:28 But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.

People may run after riches, health, and the pleasures of this world. But for us, it’s good to be near the Lord and to take refuge in him. We know that no matter how hard we try, one day our flesh will fail, but the Lord is our portion forever. So seek the Lord. When you have a desire, dig in to see what’s beneath that desire. When you realize that, you’ll find that the Lord fills that desire. This weekend, instead of running after the things of this world, run to the Lord’s house. Seek refuge in him. Grow in him. Desire him and his forgiveness. Then your restless heart will find rest.

Lord Jesus, thank you for giving my restless heart rest as you fill every desire that I have. Thank you for your love and forgiveness. Be with me this weekend and motivate me to seek refuge in you. Then my heart will find the rest and contentment it seeks. Amen.
