Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This life is filled with hardships. Events are going to happen that uproot you and turn your world upside down. They may cause you to mourn, grieve, and be upset. But don’t think that God has left you. Don’t think that God has turned on you as if it’s you against him. That’s exactly what the devil wants you to think. He wants to ally with him, which is what you do when you think God is against you. Instead, recognize that God is on your side. Nothing can separate you from God’s love. He is with you every second of every day. He fills you with his strength, wisdom, and love. Because of Jesus, whatever hardships you face will end. Either today or the day when he calls you home to heaven.
So, what struggles and hardships do you have today? Know and believe that God isn’t working against you, but for you. Turn to him. Rely on him. He will make this better.
Gracious God in heaven, thank you for always being in my corner and never leaving me. Thank you for giving me what I need when I need it. Thank you most of all for the forgiveness that you offer me through Jesus. Help me to trust that you will never leave me nor take your love from me because of Jesus. Amen.
