Ruth 2:20 “The Lord bless him!” Naomi said to her daughter-in-law. “He has not stopped showing his kindness to the living and the dead.” She added, “That man is our close relative; he is one of our guardian-redeemers.”

Do you remember Naomi’s attitude toward God from last week? If not, check out Ruth 1 and see how bitter she was toward God. She said that the Lord was against her and afflicted her. Now look at her response. Now she’s singing his praise. We can be like that too sometimes, can’t we? When times are tough, we accuse God of being against us until we see how he is working. We accuse him of not caring about us until we see how he is carrying out his plans. Why is that? Why does it take us seeing God’s plan in action before we praise him and trust him? Answer: we’re sinners who think we know best. We think we know what we need, when we need it. We think our plans and ideas are better than God’s plans, and when God’s plans don’t line up with ours, we get upset. We’re all going to go through hard times at some point in our lives, and when that time comes, trust that he is there working for you. He’s behind the scenes providing for you. He’s got your back in every moment of your life.

Father in heaven, you are a good, good Father. Forgive me for the times I doubt you and accuse you. Forgive me for waiting until I see your plan to trust that you’re doing anything. Thank you for your forgiveness through Jesus. Be with me today and always. Send your Holy Spirit into my heart to strengthen my faith in you. Amen.
