Ruth 3:10-11 “The Lord bless you, my daughter,” he replied. “This kindness is greater than that which you showed earlier: You have not run after the younger men, whether rich or poor. 11 And now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will do for you all you ask. All the people of my town know that you are a woman of noble character.
Ruth was in a vunerable situation. The time right after the harvest was known for a time of promiscuity. Boaz is sleeping and wakes up with Ruth at his feet proposing to him. He could have shamed in her causing a big scene to protect his reputation. He could have agreed to her marriage proposal and have taken advantage of her. He could have kept quiet and let her go home in the middle of the morning causing her reputation to be ruined. But he didn’t do any of that. He showed love by protecting. He protected Ruth physically, emotionally, and even protected her reputation. This is the same love that Jesus, the Savior, shows you ever day. His love is always looking to protect you emotionally as he gives you the security to trust him with your deepest emotions and feelings. He’s always looking out for your physical life providing what you need. He’s always interested in keeping your reputation and name in good standing. This is the protecting love that Jesus has for you every day. Every day, he gives you the opportunity to show that same love to someone else. Jesus will be with you today as you show this protecting love to others.
Thank you Jesus for protecting me emotionally, physically, and protecting me. I know that you will never use me or abuse me. I trust that you are my loving God who never changes. Help me to be that love to someone else today. Amen.
