Ephesians 5:25-26 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word.

Do you want to see true love? Look at Jesus. Look at the depth of his love for you and for me. He didn’t just love us with words, but he loved with actions. He loved us so deeply that he gave himself up for us. Think of everything that Jesus sacrificed for us. He gave up the pleasures and riches of heaven to come and live in poverty. He gave up perfection and protection of heaven to live in a world filled with hatred and violence. He gave up immortality to become mortal. He gave up his ability to be right and was considered a liar. He gave up his innocence and became guilty as he was sentence to death on the cross. Why? For you and me. He gave himself up for us, that we may go from sinner to saint, from stained with sin to washed clean in perfection; to go from embarrassing to radiant; to go from blemished to spotless; to go from imperfect to holy and blameless before God. That’s what his self-sacrificing love did for us. Today, just ponder that love and realize that the God of this world loves you that much.

Thank you, Jesus, my Savior, that you loved me so much that you gave up yourself. You gave up everything for me and to have me as your own. Thank you for your forgiveness. Thank you for making me holy before God. Help me to grow in my confidence and security of this love. Amen.
