Ruth 4:16-17 Then Naomi took the child in her arms and cared for him. 17 The women living there said, “Naomi has a son!” And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.

Ruth and Boaz ended up getting married. A year later there was a boy sitting on Naomi’s lap; the son of Ruth and Boaz. His name was Obed. He was the father of Jesse who was the father of King David. Do you know who also came from the line of King David? Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Did Ruth and Boaz know that? No. After the tragedy they experienced, they thought they saw God’s plan as he provided Boaz for them. But God’s plan was far deeper and far greater than they could imagine. Do you know what the crazy thing is? They never knew just how deep God’s plan was. We know it looking back, but they didn’t. Here’s the truth for your life today: God’s plan in your life is deeper than you can see or imagine. Why do bad things happen? We could sit and talk all day about that. But what we can know for sure is God is working through every tragedy. We may never see the full plan, but one day we will when he brings us to our heavenly home. So trust him even in the bad times, because he is working through it all.

Father in heaven, thank you for having full control over everything. Thank you for being far wiser than I am. Help me to trust you more and more so that when bad times come, I lean on you instead of run from you. Give me a community of believers who will encourage me through those times. Help me to be that community for someone else. Amen.
