Matthew 13:3-8 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.
This gospel seed that was scattered onto our hearts has completely changed our lives. Now we know that we are forgiven. Now we know that heaven is ours. Now we have peace and joy in this life and the next. So we want to spread this message and sow gospel seeds everywhere in order that others may have this same gift. Notice what this sower does: he throws the seed everywhere. He doesn’t stop to consider the soil. He doesn’t consider how many seeds he has left. He just scatters them everywhere. That’s what we do with gospel seeds as well. We don’t consider whether someone is deserving. We don’t determine whether someone’s heart is good soil for the seed. We just spread it to all, and we let God do the rest. I hope you experience plenty of opportunities to spread gospel seeds today.
Lord, thank you for changing my heart and my life. I want others to have this same gift. So today, help me to see the opportunities to scatter gospel seeds. Plant them in their hearts and grow that seed into faith in you as their Savior. Amen.
