Acts 17:32-34 32 When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, “We want to hear you again on this subject.”33 At that, Paul left the Council. 34 Some of the people became followers of Paul and believed. Among them was Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus, also a woman named Damaris, and a number of others.
Paul built the bridge and connected people to the Savior-God. It was a fantastic speech, but look at how the people responded. Some people rejected him. They scoffed at hearing there is such a thing as a resurrection. However, there were some who believed, and from them a church was started. That’s the goal; to lead people to Jesus. We all have opportunities today to build bridges between people and God. Where do you see them in your life today? Do you know your neighbor is down right now? Are your mom friends talking about the latest Disney movie and you see some biblical themes in there? Do you hear what people are looking for, desiring, and needing in our culture and you see how Jesus fills those needs and desires? If so, build those bridges. Lead people to Jesus. Will everyone receive it with joy? No, but some will. Those some worth every bridge.
Dear Lord, thank you for the people who have connected me to you. Give me the opportunities today to build bridges so that I can lead others to you. Let me see those opportunities, give me the words to say, and help me to connect them to you. Amen.
