1 Corinthians 12:12-14 12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

Isn’t it great to know that you are one with a group of people? You have that one Spirit just like every one else at your church. Though you’re one with them, you still have your differences don’t you? You have different gifts and abilities than other people. You have your own background, your own history. In other words: you’re different. Paul says it’s the same way in churches. He says, “Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.” Though we are united in church, we all bring differences into church and that’s a good thing! Just like a hand is different from a foot, we are different than other people there but both are necessary!

Just like in a body, a church has many different parts and when all the parts are united, they all accomplish what needs to be done. If you don’t have a church yet, know that as you go to one, there is room for you there. If you already have a church home- remember that they depend on YOU and your God-given gifts! You’ve been designed by God uniquely and he’s given you gifts to carry out his mission. Use them!

Father in heaven, thank you for creating me with my unique talents and abilities. Thank you also for creating people differently than me. Help me to recognize my talents and abilities and then give me the drive to use them as part of your body to accomplish your work. Amen.
