Galatians 6:9-10 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
For some people, the word family is a joyful thing. They love their family, they had a great childhood and family means everything to them. For others, the word family brings heartache, stress, and animosity. That’s what makes Paul’s phrase so important. He calls Christians everywhere “the family of believers.” Believers in Jesus are a family. Why? Because the Bible says that God is our Father. We’ve been united together by Jesus’ life, death, and Resurrection for us. We have an opportunity to show all people what a true family under God looks like as we love and forgive each other. This is what we give in the family of believers but also what we receive. So let us do good to all, but especially to the family of believers as we support them, love them, and encourage them today and always.
Heavenly Father, thank you for bringing me into the family of believers where I’m surrounded by love and support. Help me to do good to the family today. Let me love, forgive, and encourage others in Jesus. Amen.
