Daily Devotion 10/25/18

Being part of a family means commitment. The members of the family are committed to one another no matter what. Earthly families can fail at this, but God will never fail at this. In fact, he showed his commitment to you through all ages. From the very moment that Adam and Eve sinned, God declared his commitment to us by announcing that he would send someone to destroy the devil’s work. Ever since that moment, God’s commitment never ceased, and he ended up sending his own Son, Jesus, into the world to destroy the devil’s work on the cross. There he won salvation for you. But that’s not where the commitment ended. On your baptism day, God adopted you into his family. He washed your sins away, clothed you with Christ’s righteousness, and declared you to be his child. From that moment on, God said you are his and he is committed to you. You can turn your back on God, but he won’t turn from you. You can fail him, he’ll never fail you. You can admit your sins and your failure, and he will announce his forgiveness to you. God is your Father in heaven, and he is committed to you both now and forever.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your commitment to me. Thank you for bringing me into your family through my baptism and for declaring me to be your child. Help me to always trust you and love you. Continue to remind me of your commitment to me, and in return, let me be committed to you and my fellow believers.
