Romans 12:5-8 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Do you know what is really cool about our God? He doesn’t legislate worship. He doesn’t say, “This is the way to worship and that is the only way.” Imagine if he said that you had to have the gifts of speaking and teaching in order to worship God. That would be a bummer because not all of us have that gift! But God doesn’t say that. God says that we can worship him by using the gifts that he has given us. Is your gift planning? Use that to glorify him. Is your gift encouragement? Use it to glorify God. It is leadership, accounting, development, singing, praying? Whatever your gift is, use it to glorify God. As we use the gifts he’s given us for his glory, we worship him. So take some time today and consider what gifts you have. Then ask yourself, “How can I use these gifts to glorify God?” Then worship God through your gifts.
Thank you, Lord, for giving me the gifts that I have and for allowing me to worship you through these gifts. Help me to recognize my gifts and understand how best I can use them to worship you. Amen.
