Daily Devotion 11/29/18
Colossians 1:18-20 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Can you imagine a bigger God? Jesus is the one who made everything. All the galaxies were created by him and for him. He is the one that is holding all things together. Apart from him, this whole world would fly away. If we have a God that big, then why do we think so little of him? Why do we say things like, “I can’t control my anger or my language.” “I can’t stop holding a grudge.” “My marriage is un-fixable.” “I can’t break my addiction.” Why would we say that if we have a King who created everything and maintains everything? Because truth be told, we at times think he’s smaller than he really is. Praise God that he doesn’t turn his back on us despite our doubts. Instead, he forgives us and proves time and time again that we can trust him. He always helps us, always restores us, always rules everything for our eternal good. Praise God that our King is ruling for us not against us.
Dear Jesus, thank you for ruling all things for my good. I deserve you to wage war against me, and yet you don’t. Instead, you forgive me and rule all things for my best interest. Help me to look to you in everything today. Amen.
