Daily Devotion 12/11/18

Where do fears start? Well, they really started right here in Genesis 3. When Adam and Eve ate the from the tree God told them not to, they introduced all kinds of evil into the world; including the evil of death. Sin is behind addictions. It is behind every death. Sin is behind every sickness and disease. It is behind loneliness. Sin is behind every one of your fears. If Adam and Eve didn’t sin, you wouldn’t be afraid. But they did. And we do fear. Thankfully, God didn’t leave us in our fears. Instead, he promised to send someone to destroy the devil’s work. That’s exactly what Jesus did. He conquered and defeated the sin that is behind every fear. “Do not fear. The Lord is with you.” This Lord is the one who is with you. The one who conquered the root of all your fears. If he’s conquered the root of all your fears, he’s also conquered the symptoms of those fears. So do not fear. The Lord is with you.

Dear Lord, thank you for not leaving us in our sin filled with fears. Thank you for sending Jesus to destroy the devil’s work, which includes fear. You promise to be with me today, and I trust that you are. Calm me as I walk with you. Amen.
