Dear Church Family,
What an awesome service we had last week on Baptism Sunday as we worshipped together and witnessed 6 people receive God’s gifts of forgiveness and new life in Christ through Baptism! And then there was the abundant food and fellowship afterwards…wow! Thank you to everyone who served and showed love by generous and making for such a memorable first Baptism Sunday in our new worship space!
This Sunday we return to our regular Sunday schedule and proceed through the gospel of Mark 2:18-3:35. Here’s a synopsis of the sermon text for Sunday:
All along the course of a race, runners find distractions. Some in the crowd cheer you on, some in the crowd cheer on your opponents. Some praise your form and skill. Some may even accuse you of cheating. But you can’t get distracted. You need to stay focused on what is most important. So too Jesus faced many distractions in his ministry, but he always stayed focused on the most important thing – drawing more and more to be closer and closer to God. He drew his disciples, he drew crowds, and he showed them how outsiders can become part of the family of God. He showed how sinners can become saints!

DSYouth Movie Night – Tonight is Movie Night at DSYouth – today, Jan 26! If you’re a Middle School or High school student and you’re interested in growing as a disciple of Jesus alongside other Christians, DSYouth is for you! We study the Bible together, pray together, and talk about how we live as followers of Jesus in our world. There are usually some games and snacks each time we meet. Our motto is “Disciples of Christ, Stronger Together. Join us from 6:00-8:00pm! We’ll meet in the high school commons. Click here for the required Parent Consent and here for Student Registration. (You only need to do this once this year.) If you’re the parent of a Middle School or High School student, you are invited to join our parent group that meets during this time. We hope to see you there!
