Family Support

Dear Church Family,

Family support is often a massive part in the story of an athlete’s success. In addition to physical talent, determination, and practice, a support system is necessary for success in competition and life.

Jesus knows this better than anyone. After all, He was part of the creative acts that instituted marriage and the family! So on His own race to the cross and in light of his call for us to follow him, Jesus speaks clearly and directly about the support system God has built – not for Himself, but for our benefit. To live as God’s children is to raise up the next generation and disciple one another starting at home. This is why it is so important for us to become more like Jesus and support one another like family.

Join us this Sunday as Pastor Caleb preaches on Mark 9:30-10:16. I’ll be leading worship at our Delray Beach campus filling in for Pastor Joel who will be in Texas for a family funeral.

ICYMI  Watch my sermon from last Sunday based on Mark 8:22-9:1 on how to see clearly the crosses that we carry in light of Christ’s identify, mission, and call.

ICYMI  Watch Lenten devotion #3: “Needed By All” based on John 3:1-8. Thank you to Pastor Kevin Boushek from DSC-Sienna for leading it!

Pastor Ben Has a Call: This week I received a divine call to serve as an associate pastor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Burnsville, MN, which is a bedroom community of the Twin Cities. There is a church and a school that work together in their ministry there. As always, a call like this is not something one seeks out. Rather, it is an opportunity to prayerfully consider and receive counsel as to where God’s people think one’s gifts can best be used in service of the Lord. So I invite any and all feedback you wish to share, and certainly all your prayers. Also, just a quick note that yesterday morning Sarah had surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon that she hurt playing volleyball last Sunday night. Thank you for sharing words of encouragement with her and praying for her full recovery as life will, of necessity, slow down for her for a while!
