Read Genesis 7

Scripture: Genesis 7:16- Then the Lord shut him in.

Observation: Noah had made all the preparations. All the animals had been loaded up along with all the food. The flood was now about to come. Before it did, God made sure his elect people were safe. He did this by closing the door himself. Noah and his family were safe not because of what they had done but because God himself closed the door and kept them safe. 

Application: There is nothing more peaceful than knowing that I am secure and safe. Just like Noah, I can do all the preparations and make sure everything is in order, but when my life is threatened I get scared. At the end of the day, though, I am safe and secure for eternity not because of my preparations, but the Lord shuts me in his heavenly ark forever through his Son, Jesus. He promises that I will rise from the dead and will live forever in that heavenly home where the door will be shut to all evil. Because of Jesus, I am safe today and forever. 

Prayer: Thank you, Father, for keeping me safe for eternity. Because of Jesus, you have locked me into your heavenly home forever. Calm my fears today and comfort my heart knowing that I’m safe with you for eternity.
