Read Genesis 29
Genesis 29- She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “This time I will praise the Lord.” So she named him Judah. Then she stopped having children.
Observation- Poor Leah. She probably spent her whole life in the shadow of her younger sister. Her father even had to trick Jacob into marrying her. All she wanted was her husband’s love. She thought that by having children that would make him love her. It didn’t though. Then something changed with the fourth. This time there wasn’t anything about Jacob’s love. Instead, she decided to praise the Lord. Her focus had changed.
Application- We all want to be loved. Sometimes that desire to be loved drives us to seek love and approval from people. When we don’t receive that love, we strive for it. We try to do better, improve, and do things that the person will like in hopes of gaining that love. It is only when we rest in the love the Lord has for us that we will truly be at peace. Only then will our hearts be filled and our strivings cease. Only then will our hearts be satisfied. The love he has for us is so great that he sent his one and only Son to die for us. That’s how much the Lord loves us. Today, I will seek more of that love because that’s the only love that will truly satisfy me.
Prayer- Father, thank you for your great love for us. Your love is the only love that will truly satisfy my heart today. Forgive me for chasing after peoples’ love to try and fill the hole in my heart. Fill my heart and bring me peace today with your love. Amen.
