Read Exodus 2
Exodus 2:11-12 One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. Looking this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.
Observation- Though Moses grew up in the palace, he knew that he was a Hebrew. He also had a desire to help his people who were under oppression. Instead of waiting for God’s timing, Moses took matters into his own hands and murdered an Egyptian. Not only was this not pleasing in the eyes of Pharaoh, but God didn’t approve of this either.
Application- Waiting on God’s timing can be hard for me. It is just as hard to know when it is God’s timing. The one thing that I do know though is that God will never ask me to break his commands. So if I have to break one of his commands, then I can know for sure that it isn’t his timing. Instead, I will pray, ask for guidance, and seek to impact in ways that I can that do not break God’s law. The whole time I will trust his perfect plan and that he will make it obvious when the time is right.
Prayer- Father, I’m so thankful that you are in control of all things. You have a perfect plan in place all the time. Forgive me for not waiting for you and your timing. Give me patience, trust, and wisdom. Help me to know when to act and what to say. Guard me from breaking your commands as I make a decision. Thank you for your love and your forgiveness that I rest in every day. Amen.
