Read Exodus 4

Scripture- Exodus 4:13-16 But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.” Then the Lord’s anger burned against Moses and he said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and he will be glad to see you. You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him.

Observation- This is Moses’ fifth statement of reluctance. This time there’s no excuse. God had taken away every excuse that Moses could think of. Now all that Moses can say is, “Please send someone else.” Simply put, “I don’t want to do it, Lord.” The Lord could have struck him dead. Who was Moses to reject the Lord and not do what he was asking? Yet, God shows patience and continues to provide for Moses by sending Aaron, his brother.

Application- Praise God for his patience. I’m sure I have no idea how many times I have tried the patience of God by not doing what he’s asked me to do. I’m sure the list is just as long of the times he’s asked me to not do something but I go ahead and do it anyway. The same patient Lord God that deals with Moses is the same patient Lord God that deals with me. He is nothing but kind, compassionate, and patient. He continues to provide everything I need so that I can trust him and carry out his will.

Prayer- Father in heaven, you are a kind and compassionate God. I see that here as you patiently deal with Moses, but I also see it in my own life. Thank you for forgiving me for all the times I try your patience. I know that Jesus has paid for those sins too. I know that just like you equipped Moses, you will equip me today to carry out your will. Help me to trust you and carry it out. Amen.
