Read Exodus 5
Scripture- Exodus 5:22-23- Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Why, Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Is this why you sent me? Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people, and you have not rescued your people at all.”
Observation- If Moses thought that this was going to be easier, he was wrong. Instead of letting the people go, Pharaoh made their lives even more difficult. He wasn’t going to just free the Israelites from their slavery. Why? The forces of evil hate the idea that people would be getting closer to God. Now both Moses and the Israelites are riding an emotional rollercoaster. They started with hope and now it has led to despair.
Application- There are times in my life when I ask God to deliver me from a sin. There are other times when I really want to start making decisions that put God first. In those moments, I’m filled with hope and excitement as I will get closer to God through those decisions knowing that he will bless me through it. It is never easy though. Generally, things get more difficult before they get better. Why? Because the devil and all the forces of hell hate the idea of me getting closer to God. They won’t go down without a fight. They will bring hardship into my life in hopes that I doubt God and refuse the godly change in my life. Thankfully, I have the God of this world fighting for me. I will continue to trust him and his promises knowing that he will deliver me.
Prayer- Father, I want to live for you and make godly decisions in my life, but you know how the devil will fight against me. Thank you for always defending me and fighting for me. Give me strength, courage, and trust to keep you number one in my life trusting that you will protect me and provide for me through the hardships.
