Read Exodus 10

Scripture- Exodus 10:27 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he was not willing to let them go.

Observation- After almost every plague, there has been an update on Pharaoh’s heart. In the early ones, it is said that Pharaoh hardened his heart, but now it says that the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart. The Lord will have his will done. In the case of the Israelites, it was his will that they would be released from slavery and go. Pharaoh hardened his heart and would not listen. Rather he worked against God’s will. God eventually hardened his heart to accomplish what he desired.

Application- This truth is a great warning for me. I can dig my heels in and work against the Lord. I can rebel and do what I want to do and harden my heart against God. If that is the case, I’m in great danger of coming into judgment and having my heart hardened. The Lord is the King and his will for his kingdom will be accomplished. He wants to include me in those accomplishments, and he wants me to willingly participate. When he tells me not to do something, he wants me not to do it. When he tells me to do something, he wants me to actively and joyfully carry it out. Today, I praise God for his patience and love!

Prayer- Father, you are a God of patience and love. I ask you to send your Holy Spirit into my heart to motivate me to do your will. Give me the will and desire to carry out your will for my life. I can do all this trusting that you are my good Father in heaven. Amen.
