Read Numbers 12
Scripture- Numbers 12:1-2 Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite. “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” And the Lord heard this.
Observation- Moses already had the people grumbling and complaining against him. All he needed was support, and yet he didn’t find it in his family. Now he had Aaron and Miriam talk against him and try to turn the people away from Moses. Moses handles the situation with grace. He doesn’t argue with them. Instead he lets the Lord defend him. Then he prays immediately for his sister whose consequence was leprosy.
Application- If there’s anybody that I want to support me and have my back, it is my family. It hurts to have them talk poorly about me. When and if those moments happen, I pray that I don’t argue, defend myself in a sinful way, or say anything hurtful to them. Instead, I want to respond the way Moses did. I’ll let the Lord defend me and then pray for them.
Prayer- Father, thank you for being my defense. Forgive me for the times that I sinfully defend myself. Out of my hurt I use hurtful words and get back at people. Thank you for Jesus who loved everyone perfectly; even his brothers who thought he had lost his mind. Send your Spirit into my heart to strengthen my faith in you, and give me a willing spirit to pray for those who hurt me. Amen.
