Read Numbers 13
Scripture- Numbers 13:30 Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”
Observation- The spies came back and reported what the land of Canaan was like. There were many different nations occupying the land. Yes, they looked huge compared to the Israelites. However, Caleb stood up and confidently encouraged the people to go up and take the land despite all of that. He did so not because they were so strong or big, but because he knew that God’s promises were stronger and bigger than their enemies.
Application- God’s big and strong promises are mine today. I can have confidence not because of who I am but because of who God is. When I look to myself for confidence, that is when I’m unsure of myself and fearful. However, because of God’s promises, I can go about today with a godly swagger as I’m confident in the Lord. My sins may be great, but God’s promise to forgive my sins is greater. Death is very big and scary, but God’s promise to raise me to life is stronger. The fear of loneliness may be great, but God’s promise to always be with me is greater. Today, I walk in the confidence of the Lord.
Prayer- Father, you are so great and glorious. You are the same God that Caleb trusted in. Because of your promises, I have that same confidence today knowing that your promises are greater than anything in this world. Give me that godly swagger today knowing that you are with me. With you on my side, I have nothing to fear. Amen.
