Read Numbers 16

Scripture- Numbers 16:46-  Then Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer and put incense in it, along with burning coals from the altar, and hurry to the assembly to make atonement for them. Wrath has come out from the Lord; the plague has started.

Observation- Once again the people rebelled against Moses and Aaron. Yet, Moses loves the people enough to continue to be the mediator between them and God. He had Aaron take his censer to make atonement for the people so that they were right with God. He stood between the living and the dead. 

Application- It is starting to feel like the Israelites were rebelling all the time. I find Moses’ patience and love amazing. It would be hard to continue to pray and intercede for those grumbling people again and again. Yet, this is a fantastic picture of what Jesus is doing for me. Every day I sin against God. Every day, Jesus stands between me and God interceding for me. He is the one who made atonement for my sins, and it is only because of him that the plague of death will not touch me in the end. I will fall at his feet today in thanks, adoration, and praise for the atonement he made for me at the cross and empty tomb. 

Prayer- Thank you, Jesus, for being my mediator. You stand between me and God having made atonement for my sins. Because of you, death will not touch me in the end. I ask that you change my heart today. Change it from one of rebellion and grumbling to one of thanks, praise, and trust in you. Amen.
