Read Judges 14
Scripture- Judges 14:8-9- Some time later, when he went back to marry her, he turned aside to look at the lion’s carcass, and in it he saw a swarm of bees and some honey. He scooped out the honey with his hands and ate as he went along. When he rejoined his parents, he gave them some, and they too ate it. But he did not tell them that he had taken the honey from the lion’s carcass.
Observation- Samson can be described as someone who does what he wants to do. God had laid out for him how his life was to look as God told him he would be a Nazarite. Part of the Nazarite vow was to not touch a dead carcass. But that’s exactly what he does here because Samson does what Samson wants to do.
Application- Just like Samson God has laid out for me how he wants me to live as well. As I look at my life, do I do what God wants me to do or do I do what I want to do? Do I have a spirit and heart that wants to give God glory and make him happy, or am I like Samons living to make myself happy even if it means doing what God tells me not to do? Praise God he is patient with me and continues to send his Spirit to direct me and redirect me.
Prayer- Father, the temptation that I’m going to face today is to live for me instead of you. I’m going to be tempted to want to make me happy and do what I want to do instead of glorifying you in all I do. Thank you for being patient and forgiving. Send your Spirit to motivate me, guide me, and lead me today.
