Read 1 Samuel 2
1 Samuel 2:25- If one person sins against another, God may mediate for the offender; but if anyone sins against the Lord, who will intercede for them?”
Observation- Eli’s sons were priests before God, and yet they didn’t conduct themselves as such. They cheated people and slept with the women who worked at the entrance to the temple. Eli asks them a very important question, “If anyone sins against the Lord, who will intercede for them?”
Application- That is such an important question for me to consider today. When I sin, I deserve the punishment that comes with that sin. If I’m going to be shown grace and mercy, I need someone to intercede for me. Who is interceding for me before the Lord? There is only one mediator and that is Jesus. Through him alone do I find grace and mercy today. He took the punishment I deserve when he died on the cross. He now sits at the throne of heaven given me grace and mercy as he lives to intercede for me.
Prayer- Jesus, thank you for being my mediator and taking the punishment I deserve. Now you sit on your throne interceding for me assuring me of your grace and mercy. Motivate me to live my life for you today! Amen.
