June 28, 2021 | I Samuel 3
Read 1 Samuel 3
Scripture- 1 Samuel 3:10- The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
Observation- There were many voices that Samuel heard every day. One that he wasn’t used to hearing was the Lord’s. But the Lord was calling! Eli told him to stop and say, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
Application- There are so many voices that call for my attention every day. There’s the voices of my wife, my kids, staff members, parents, church members, voices on social media, and even my own voice. What a great reminder for today to sit, calm myself, and say, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” Then I open up his Word and let God speak to me. I listen as he speaks to me through the Bible as he convicts me of sin. I listen as he speaks words of healing for my soul. I listen as he speaks words of grace as he assures me my sins are forgiven and that I’m his blood bought child. I listen as he speaks words of hope assuring me that eternal joy and happiness await me in heaven. I listen as he speaks words of comfort as he promises he is with me today. Yes, speak, Lord, for your servant is listening today.
Prayer- Father, thank you for your Word. Through you speak to me and reveal your will. You build me up, you convict me, you forgive men, and encourage me. Let me clear out the other voices and be still. Speak, for your servant is listening. Amen.
