Read 2 Kings 12
Scripture- 2 Kings 12:7- Therefore King Joash summoned Jehoiada the priest and the other priests and asked them, “Why aren’t you repairing the damage done to the temple? Take no more money from your treasurers, but hand it over for repairing the temple.”
Observation- Joash was passionate about repairing the temple. It was there in the temple that people could hear the Word of God and be strengthened in their faith. He was so passionate about it that he challenged the high priest who wasn’t doing the repairs. Yet, his passion came up short. He still allowed the high places used in idol worship to remain. Despite being a godly king, he still came up short.
Application- I can have godly leaders in this country. There are politicians who care about bringing God back to the country and ensuring our religious freedoms. However, no matter how godly they are, no matter how passionate they are for God, they still come up short. They will still disappoint us as they aren’t God. There’s only one ruler that is the perfect, godly ruler and that’s Jesus. When I look to leaders to be the savior, I’ll be disappointed. When I look to Jesus as my leader, I will find a ruler who never disappoints but always delivers.
Prayer- Jesus, thank you for being my perfect ruler. You never disappoint me but you always deliver and rule in a godly way. Guard my heart against looking to politicians for what only you can do. Let me respect them but trust and serve you. Amen.
