Read 2 Kings 14

Scripture- 2 Kings 14:27- And since the Lord had not said he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Jehoash.

Observation- Starting at Jeroboam’s reign in 782 bc, the Kingdom of Israel began a silver age. This was a time of abundance and prosperity. They extended the borders and people enjoyed peace. God allowed all of this to happen despite Jeroboam doing evil in his eyes. God loved them and gave the people another chance to repent.

Application- I can look at the state of the world and at different leaders and wonder why God is allowing them to prosper when they clearly don’t believe in God. It sometimes makes me wonder what God is doing. This section of Scripture is a powerful reminder that God is merciful and he wants people to repent and come to him. He will let wicked leaders prosper if that means the people will come back to him. God wants all people to be saved and come to him. Today, I’ll step back and realize God wants to bring people to repentance. He’ll do that in any number of ways. I’ll trust that he knows exactly what he’s doing.

Prayer- Father in heaven, it brings me great comfort and confidence today to know that you are in control and that you know what you’re doing. I can look at the events in the world and trust that you’re going to work good from it. You will use everything to bring people to repentance and knowledge of their Savior. Strengthen my trust in you. Amen.
