Read Daniel 3

Scripture – Daniel 3:17-18 – If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.

Observation- These men didn’t know for sure that the Lord was going to save them from the blazing furnace. Yet, they weren’t going to serve any god but their own God. Why? They knew that the Lord would deliver them one way or another. 

Application- The whole point of this chapter isn’t that if I have great faith God will deliver me from fires here on earth. Rather, I can live confidently trusting our Lord to save us no matter what happens. It was a win-win situation for these men. If God delivered them from the King’s hand, then great! If he didn’t and they died in the blazing furnace, then great! God would still deliver them as he would bring them to his side in heaven. When I realize and trust that my God is a God who delivers in any and every situation, it brings peace to my life. No matter if he keeps me from evil today and saves my life or if he delivers me from this evil world and brings me to his side in heaven, I have a God who saves and delivers. That brings me peace today because no matter what happens, I’m safe.

Prayer- Father, I don’t know what evils await me today, but I know you sit on your throne ruling all things. You promise to deliver me, watch over me, and bring me to your side in heaven. Thank you for delivering me through any and all situations. Fill me with peace knowing that you will save me today.
