Read Daniel 4
Scripture – Daniel 4:31 – Even as the words were on his lips, a voice came from heaven, “This is what is decreed for you, King Nebuchadnezzar: Your royal authority has been taken from you.”
Observation- Daniel was living in a country where the king literally considered himself as a god. The king was arrogant, ungodly, and forced the people to do ungodly things. Nebuchadnezzar was the king of the country that later on in Scripture is depicted as the kingdom of hell. Yet, there was hope for Daniel. This powerful king in this ungodly country wasn’t the all-powerful king. The Lord still had control over Nebuchadnezzar.
Application – I can get so worked up over the governments of this world. I see other countries leading in ungodly ways. I see our own country doing the same, and it fills me with worry and fear. This section brings me hope. No one is in a position of authority except by God’s ordaining. He has complete control over everything. That doesn’t mean everything is going to work out the way I want it too, but it does mean that I can have peace in my heart knowing that my Savior God is on his throne. He is over every authority both now and forever; even the authorities that seem too big to ever take down.
Prayer- Father, thank you for having full power over everything. You have authority even over the ungodly leaders in this world. They can’t do anything outside of your will. That means I can live at peace today knowing that whatever happens, you can and will work it out for the good of those who love you. Fill my heart with the peace that comes from knowing you are in control of all. Amen.
