Read Daniel 5
Scripture – Daniel 5:23 – But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways.
Observation- Belshazzar was a very arrogant and prideful king. He thought that he was the end-all and be-all. In a lot of ways, he considered himself a god. Yet, Daniel confronts him on his pride and tells him that he did not honor the God who holds in his hand his life and all his ways.
Application- It is no different for me. God holds my life and all my ways in his hands as well. This fact breaks apart my pride and arrogance. I don’t own my life or am even in control of my life. God is. He has my life and my ways in his hands. Yet, it is also a tremendous comfort to know that my life and ways are in God’s hands. I don’t need to be in control of my life. I know that the loving Lord has my life and all my ways in the palm of his hand. That fills me with humble joy and confidence today.
Prayer- Father, thank you for holding my life and all my ways in your hands. I don’t need to be scared or worried because you have me. Break apart my arrogance and my pride, and fill me with humble confidence and joy today as I rest in you. Amen.
