January 27, 2022 | Acts 24
Read Acts 24
Scripture- Acts 24:16- So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man.
Observation- Paul knew that there would be a resurrection of the dead for both the righteous and the wicked. He knew that everyone would rise to meet their Maker, and so he strove to keep his conscience clear. Paul was very aware that his righteousness didn’t depend on him but on Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection for him. But that didn’t give him a license to sin. Instead, it motivated him to live in a way to keep his conscience clean.
Application- One day I will rise and stand before Jesus, and I will enter into eternal life through faith in Jesus as my Savior. That is a comforting fact, but that doesn’t give me the right to go out today and sin however I want. I strive to keep my conscience clean living for the one who has made me clean. When I go to bed tonight, I will go to sleep with a clean conscience not because of my perfection, but because of Jesus’ in my place.
Prayer- Dear Jesus, thank you for cleaning my conscience through the shedding of your blood. Help me today to live with a clean conscience today. Guard my thoughts, my words, and my actions so that I live a life for you. Keep me from willful sins and guard me so that I don’t fall into temptation. Amen.
