Read 2 Peter 3

Scripture- 2 Peter 3:9- The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Observation- People were accusing God of not caring, being hands-off, and that he wouldn’t eventually come to end the world. Peter reminds them that the reason that God hasn’t brought judgment day yet is that he is patient, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Application- Patience is a characteristic of God that I don’t often think about, but it is so comforting. My God is so patient with me as I make the same mistakes over and over again. He works on my heart and patiently develops me into his likeness. He patiently forgives me again and again. He patiently molds me and shapes me into a leader. He patiently deals with my selfishness. My God is so patient with me. I want to be patient like that today with others.

Prayer- Father in heaven, thank you for your unending patience with me. Send your Holy Spirit into my heart to give me a spirit of patience today. Amen.
