God wants me to be happy. He wants me to have what I desire, so if I follow Him, and obey his rules, and generally be good, God will make my life good! Right? After all, Jesus said, “I have come that you might have life, and have it to the full,” right? Sounds like following Jesus will make my life here pretty good! But what does Jesus really mean when he says that? Let’s examine the context of this saying and be assured that Jesus loves us too much to give us whatever we ask for. And his promise to make our lives good isn’t always referring to our lives here in this world. Truth is, they will often be hard and filled with difficulty. Setting up false expectations will only lead to disappointment, and trying to manipulate God into giving us what we want. Instead of what He wants for us, which is much better!
