Dear Church Family,
Special note: This Sunday we are having ONE worship service in the high school gym at 10:30 AM. We will come together as one family in Christ to celebrate that several of our teens are being confirmed in their faith in Jesus as their Savior. A special reception will follow in the commons area. All are welcome!
In his message this Sunday, Pastor Steve will be wrapping up our series Your True Purpose by helping us understand what it means to “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
But “Wait a second,” you might be thinking… “God wants us to love others as we love ourselves? Isn’t self-love the problem?” Well yes, it certainly is—when self-love manifests itself in our lives apart from Christ. But there is a healthy self-love. We’re not going to experience it, however, if we’re looking for and finding our identity in the approval of others instead of in God’s unconditional approval in Christ. We need to embrace the beauty of who God has created us to be in Christ. We also need to learn to live our true status and identity as redeemed children of God in Christ. Only then are we free to truly love. Of course, it’s the power and work of the Holy Spirit alone that makes this happen!

Parents – Are your kids on SnapChat? Do you know what happens on SnapChat? It’s important that you know. From the words of a friend who is the campus pastor at another Christian high school: “Cyberbullying, extreme vulgarities, drug deals, finding “Plugs,” sexting, pornography, school cheating, gossiping, and more happen DAILY on SnapChat. In my personal opinion, there is no reason for anyone to use SnapChat, let alone teens, and ESPECIALLY NOT children younger than high school.” This is just an encouragement heading into the summer for all of us who are parents to take an active role in monitoring what media are children are using and helping them learn how to navigate all the temptations that come with growing up in a digital age.
Changing Lives with Jesus,
Pastor Ben
