God, why?

Dear Church Family,

Is worshiping Jesus worth it?

Is walking according to Jesus’ will for your life worth it?

Is working to share God’s word with others worth it?

Increasingly it seems like those who ignore or reject God’s word somehow end up with greater popularity, nicer houses, more money and easier lives. They enjoy certain advantages in society. They may even have the power to call the shots.

Why? It doesn’t seem fair. How can a just God allow the ungodly to enjoy prosperity while his chosen people often suffer bitterly?

A long time ago a man named Asaph wondered this too. “God, why do the wicked prosper? It doesn’t seem fair!”

Join me this weekend as we study Psalm 73 to discover the solution that calmed Asaph’s heart and which can also comfort yours and mine. We’ll talk about injustice in this world and the kind of troubles that make believers want to cry out, “God, it’s not fair!”

With gratitude to God, your continued generosity even during this pandemic has helped us meet our 2019-2020 fiscal year budgeted goal! Thank you for your partnership in changing lives with Jesus! This is great news heading into this new fiscal year as we look to continue taking steps towards our worship and ministry center building project. Toward that goal, our congregation has approved our 2020-2021 fiscal year budget that requires a weekly average offering amount of $9,106.96.

Equipping Christian Witnesses – is the name of a campaign to raise funds in support of our vital ministry partner, Martin Luther College (MLC). Our pastors and the majority of the teachers at our Divine Savior Academy were trained at MLC and we are blessed as a church that all of them belong also to our Divine Savior Church congregation! To learn more about the goals of the campaign, here’s a video you can watch. If God moves your heart to give to this campaign with joy, please make use of our online giving option being sure to choose the designation as “MLC Campaign.” Our goal is that our congregation can raise $20,000 (or more!) by the end of August that so that we might send a Divine Savior Church gift in support of Equipping Christian Witnesses.
