It’s Going to Start Getting Messy. Thank God for Mercy!

Dear Church Family,

The book of Judges. As we walk through this book, we are going to encounter a lot of horrifying tales of what sin can do in people’s lives. Sin can make life messy. We need to be honest about that. The book of Judges shows what happens when people stop giving full-hearted devotion to God and start offering him half-hearted discipleship. Eventually it leads to non-discipleship. It leads to people doing whatever they want to do. We see that in the world around us today also, don’t we?

But what about us? Are we offering God full-hearted devotion? Or is it sometimes half-hearted—trending towards even less? Please join me this weekend whether in-person or online as we begin our new series Messy People, Merciful God and study our way through the amazingly relevant book of Judges. For a terrific, visual introduction to the book, check out this overview video put together by The Bible Project.

To attend in person this weekend whether on Saturday at 5:00 pm or Sunday at 9:30 am please register with this form ahead of time. Last weekend we raised the attendance cap from 75 to 100, but continue to abide by the guidelines in our Phase 1 Plan.

To worship online with others simply click here to visit our livestreaming platform either on Saturday at 5:00 pm or Sunday at 9:30 am. Say “hi” in the chat and greet one another to let them know you’re there and share encouragement!

DSC on YouTube: Watch past messages such as from our entire series Stories That Read Us, services on-demand, and other Christ-centered content on our church YouTube channel. Subscribe and share with others! To watch DSA chapel services led by DSC pastors and DSA teachers, visit our chapel YouTube channel.

DSKids Online: Check out the weekly resources being provided by our DSKids team. We are not at this time providing in-person DSKids ministry during our weekend worship services at church.

Online Hosts Needed – In the same way that a greeter provides a welcoming presence at our church’s physical location, an online host has the opportunity to do the same on the church’s digital location. More than ever our digital location is the first (and perhaps only) contact people have with our church. People are hungry for human connection. You can help provide that using our church online platform. Training provided. Teens welcome to learn too! Please contact Staff Minister Becky if interested.

Meditations – is a small daily devotion book that we provide free of charge. You can pick up the new ones on the info table at church this weekend or upon request we would be happy to mail you one.

Family Devotions – Get your family into God’s Word during the week! WELS has developed short devotions for the entire family to use. Each devotion comes complete with a set of questions for different age groups, a prayer, and hymn verses that can be sung or spoken. Downloadable printable versions are also available. Find the family devotions at wels.net/family-devotions.

Online Giving: Giving online is easy to do either by clicking the “My Giving” tab while logged into MyDSC | by clicking on “Give” on our website: www.divinesaviorchurch.com | or by clicking “Give” while watching live on our church online platform

Weekly Offerings: Last week: $11,256.62 | Needed weekly to meet FY ’20-’21 budget: $9,106.96

Equipping Christian Witnesses – is the name of a campaign to raise funds in support of our vital ministry partner, Martin Luther College (MLC). Please watch the video I made for more info about this opportunity to give. Currently $4,260 has been contributed towards our goal of $20,000. We’re at 21% of where we’d hoped to be by Labor Day weekend so we want to extend the opportunity through mid-October in order to give more people time to participate. Thank you to those who’ve already contributed!
