Passing Down the Faith. It’s Important!

Dear Church Family,

“Another generation grew up, who knew neither the LORD nor what he had done for Israel” (Judges 2:10).

Is there anything more important than passing down the faith from one generation to the next? That’s what we’ll be exploring this weekend as we continue our study of the book of Judges. We will also be introduced to the repeated cycle in the book of Judges: rebelling against God, being oppressed, crying out for help, God sending someone to deliver, and then a return to sin. It’s an awful downward spiral that just gets worse and worse.

Thankfully we’ll also see God shine a spotlight on how tremendously patient, loving and merciful He is!

Divine Savior Ministries (DSM): In my role as the Coordinator Pastor for Divine Savior Church it is my privilege to attend the quarterly meetings of the DSM governing board and report on behalf of our five church campuses. Last week we held our fall quarterly meeting via Zoom. Highlights from my church report included the challenge of doing ministry during coronavirus, growing collaboration among our church campuses, and our exploration of developing a church app. Other reports centered on the growing enrollment and staffing needs at our academies and schools. So on the one hand the pandemic has made it difficult to carry out relational, face to face, church ministry in an age of social distancing. On the other hand God has used the pandemic to bring about blessings in the bigger picture of our church / academy partnership across all our campuses. May God bless the relationships being developed on our all our campuses so that families get connected to Jesus and remain rooted and growing in Him throughout their lives! Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about DSM or my role as the governor for DSC.

Equipping Christian Witnesses – is the name of a campaign to raise funds in support of our vital ministry partner, Martin Luther College (MLC). Please watch the video I made for more info about this opportunity to give. Currently $4,510.00 has been contributed towards our goal of $20,000. We’re at 23% of where we’d hoped to be by Labor Day weekend so we want to extend the opportunity through mid-October in order to give more people time to participate. Thank you to those who’ve already contributed!
