Dear Church Family,
Are we more influenced by the Word of God or by the culture of the world around us? Of course we’d like to not ever have anyone ask us that question. But perhaps we are more affected by the world’s culture than we think.
Surprisingly that often leads us to try treating God like a Canaanite idol. This happens when we treat God like a vending machine, putting in our prayers and expecting him to give us exactly what we want him to give us. And if he doesn’t…then we might be tempted to get angry at the vending machine. You following me?
Influenced by the culture around us, we can all struggle at times to see God as a God of grace in our lives. That’s why I can’t wait to see you this weekend as we study the story of a man named Jephthah recorded in Judges chapters 10-12 continuing our series Messy People, Merciful God! We’ll learn to see God as He is, a God of grace, and how to not fall into the trap of treating Him like a run-of-the-mill idol.

There’s still to join a group even if a group has already started. The options to choose from are listed in the attachment to the form when you follow the link to sign-up. It may be that you don’t see anything that seems a good fit for you at this time. Perhaps you’d like to form your own group or suggest some alternatives for next time. Please let me know. I’d be happy to have a conversation with you about your own personal spiritual growth too.
