Everybody Needs a Why

Dear Church Family,

Famously it’s been said that “a person who has a why can bear any how.” This speaks powerfully to the deep desire within human beings that we all want our lives to have meaning—especially when undergoing suffering. We crave a sense of our purpose—our why in life. But will any old why do?

Often the answers we come up with as human beings aren’t truly satisfying. We may end up pursuing what feels meaningless. But when the Bible talks about why we’re here, it actually makes sense. We begin to see that our lives have a deep meaning and purpose that reaches far beyond ourselves and this broken world.

Please join me this weekend as we explore the next question in our Soul Searching series related to the topic of Meaning – Why am I here? To join me in person this weekend whether on Saturday at 5:00 pm or Sunday at 9:30 am please register with this form ahead of time. To worship online with others simply click here to visit our livestreaming platform either on Saturday at 5:00 pm or Sunday at 9:30 am.

In-Person Worship Welcome: Thank you as you’ve been registering ahead of time during the pandemic. We hope you continuing using the form each week so we know is present in case we need to communicate anything regarding Covid exposure later. However, our First Impressions Team will no longer be asking people at the door before worship if they’ve registered or not. We will now return to simply greeting people and welcoming them into worship. There has been enough room to practice social distancing while still being able to welcome into worship all who wish to attend in-person.

DSC on YouTube: Watch past messages, worship services on-demand, and other Christ-centered content on our church YouTube channel. We’ve made it to 200 subscribers, thank you! Subscribe and keep sharing! To watch DSA chapel services visit our chapel YouTube channel.

ICYMI: Watch my message, part one of Soul Searching: Origin – Where Did We Come From?

DSKids: We invite all children ages 3 to 3rd grade to join us this Sunday for our in-person DSKids Sunday morning program. We will have fun focusing on Jesus, our Bread of Life, based off the Scripture reading for Sunday. Simply stop by our DSKids table outside the church doors on your way into worship and we’ll get your child checked in and ready to join us. See you Sunday!

Through the Bible in 2021 – Click here to find a personal invitation to join me in reading The One Year Bible on the Bible app by YouVersion. The plan began on January 6 but you can still jump in midstream with us! So far 63 people have joined the group.

Marriage Moments are short, weekly videos highlighting one Biblical marriage thought accompanied by a discussion question. Click here to watch this week’s episode – New Clothes. Produced by our national church body, the WELS.

Giving: To give electronically simply click this link to go to our secure giving page. If you’re a regular electronic giver, please remember to switch over your gifts to our new Pushpay service provider using the above link if you haven’t done so already as soon as possible. Please note, if you were giving weekly last year but switched to giving monthly this year, you may want to consider that some months in the year have 5 weeks instead of 4. The result is that if not taken into account, about one month’s worth of giving would be inadvertently lost over the course of a year. Please also note that you can conveniently use online giving to give a one-time gift in addition to regular giving if God gives you an unexpected blessing or during special services throughout the year.

Church Offerings Update: Last week: $10,062.67 | YTD per week: $8,773.71| Needed weekly to meet FY ’20-’21 budget: $9,106.96 | FYI – 2021 boxes of offering envelopes will be available on the info table at church for you to pick up if that’s your preferred way of giving.
