Dear Church Family,
Close your eyes. Picture the cross. Christ crucified. What do you see?
Using human reason alone we can only see a dying wreck of a man. It’s an ugly scene. At best this man is someone who dies for what he believes in. A noble sentiment perhaps. But no savior.
However, through eyes of Spirit-given faith we can yet picture this same Jesus on the cross and confess, “I believe.” I believe that his death in my place gives me peace. True. Lasting. Ultimate. Peace. Peace that the world cannot give.
That’s because as Christians we believe that Jesus is our Savior. He died as the sacrificial substitute to pay the penalty for sin. He truly suffered and died on the cross for us and was buried in a tomb. This is more than pious religious sentiment. It is the truth that sets us free!
21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:21-24).
Worship with us in-person or online Saturday at 5:00 pm or Sunday morning at 9:30 am. Pastor Carlos Leyrer will be preaching this weekend here in Doral. I’ll be preaching up at our Delray Beach campus this weekend filling in for Pastor Joel. I will, however, be here to host the Saturday evening service.
