Dear Church Family,
“Here is the church. Here is the steeple. Open the doors. And see all the people. Close the doors. Listen to them pray. Open the doors. And they all walk away.”
Do you remember learning this little rhyme, perhaps as a child? I do. It reminds me that most people think of church as a place. A building, sometimes with a steeple. I think we’ve all got certain ideas in our minds based on our upbringing or experience about what a church building is.
But that little rhyme also teaches us an even more important way to think about church. It’s not really a building at all. It’s the people! The people who worship, sing, pray, and gather together are the church. We are the church! In fact we remain the church when we walk out the doors of the building out into the world. All who believe in Jesus Christ are the Church wherever we go!
But even that’s just part of what it means to be the Church. Please join me this weekend for worship as we continue our study of the The Apostles’ Creed looking at the words: The Holy Christian Church, the Communion of saints. Join us in-person or online whether Saturday at 5:00 pm or Sunday morning at 9:30 am.

DSKids Sunday Coming Soon! – Join us next Sunday, August 22nd for DSKids Sunday where we will kick off a new session of DSKids with a special Skit & Song Sunday. We will welcome the new children entering DSKids and celebrate those moving on to the Acolyte position. A Bible will be presented to each DSKids family entering and leaving our program to encourage ongoing spiritual growth for the children at home as well.
Volunteers NEEDED – Set up Team – Can you help us prepare the worship space for weekend services? School begins again at DSA on Tuesday. As you know the church also serves as the auditorium/cafeteria for school during the week. Beginning Aug 21, each Saturday we will need a team of 5-6 people to remove cafeteria tables and arrange the space for worship. Would you be willing to be part of this Set Up Team? Please contact Staff Minister Becky if you have any questions or are willing to serve in this way.
