Dear Church Family,
“They must be doing something right!” Have you ever thought or muttered that when someone roared past you in their sports car or fancy boat out in the bay? Or while you were watching a professional sports event or singing contest? Or browsing the blog or YouTube channel of a successful influencer?
We can end up spending lots of time at the “altar of influence” worshiping gods of people, celebrities, influencers, and culture. Wishing we could be more like them. Wishing we could have what they have. Longing for a status that comes from comparing ourselves to others and estimating where we rank.
American idols have incredible influence in our world. Combined with the power of social media, it can be hard not to get carried away with them or end up feeling crushed by them.
But God knows how to piece us back together when we feel crushed. God has a status he wants to give us independent of our ranking in the eyes of others. God even shares with us the kind of influence that we can joyfully put to good use.
So join me this weekend as we worship and grow together whether on Saturday at 5:00 pm or Sunday morning at 9:30 am. Bring a friend!

Starting Point Class: What does the Bible teach? What do Christians believe? Starting Point is where you START. In this class you will study the foundational teachings of the Christian faith with Pastor Ben. It’s the starting point for anyone who would like to learn more about God, find out what the Bible says about things like Communion, or pursue becoming a member of Divine Savior Church. All are welcome! There is no cost to participate. You have two options to participate: Thursday evenings 7:00-8:30 pm or Saturday evenings 6:15-7:45 pm. Childcare is available. Connect Groups: During the months of October and November we are offering a number of different groups for you to grow in faith, connect with others, and have some fun. Click here to find and choose your group!
Mommy & Me: Monday, October 11th 8:45 – 10:00 am. Enjoy a fun morning with your little one at Mommy & Me, where you can connect with others through storytime, music & movement, and play! Children from birth to age 4 and Mommy or caregiver welcome! FREE! If you would like to participate and have not yet registered this year, please click here to register.
All Pro Dad: Any dads and their kids who are in Kindergarten through 5th grade can team up with other dads and kids at our school once a month for All Pro Dad! We meet before school from 7:00-8:00 AM in the high school commons for a free breakfast and a character based-curriculum that helps dads start meaningful conversations with their kids. Spanish Club: Have you ever wanted to learn a little bit of Spanish? Or maybe learn a little more or gain confidence with what you already know? Be part of our DSC Spanish Club! You will improve your skills, learn techniques to gain fluency, and discover more about Latin American culture from guests from different countries! We will meet every Wednesday on campus from 4:00-5:00 pm for 7 weeks. All are welcome regardless of your current Spanish language ability. Our first get together will be Wednesday, Oct 13. Serve to Support our Worship Service! Did you know that it takes 10 volunteers to fill all of the necessary positions for each worship service? We have 3 worship services each weekend. An additional 4 are needed to prepare the space and get it ready each weekend and 2 more for offering refreshments/hospitality after the service. That’s a total of 30 to 36 people each weekend. We thank God for those already serving in these positions, but what a blessing it would be to have more people willing to serve on every team! (Usher, Greeter, Tech, Hospitality, Music, and Set Up team.) How can YOU help? Please click here and take a moment to consider where you might be able to use your gifts for the weekend worship services or other areas of our church ministry.
