Dear Church Family,
Have you heard the song, “My Grown-up Christmas List”? There’s a verse in it that goes like this:
As children we believe
The grandest sight to see
Was something lovely wrapped beneath the tree
But Heaven only knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal a hurting human soul.
In other words, when we’re little, we tend to put all kinds of things on our Christmas list for ourselves, don’t we? Especially material things. But as we grow up and mature we come to realize these kind of things can’t heal what is wrong inside our hearts. Material gifts placed under a Christmas tree cannot heal a hurting human soul.
But Jesus can! And as God’s gift to us, he also changes our hearts to think of the needs of others before ourselves. He makes us truly “grown-up.”
So for the next couple weeks together in worship, let’s consider, What might be on our grown-up Christmas list? What would God want us to put on our Christmas list?

DSC Family Movie Night: It’s not too late to reserve your tickets! TODAY, Friday, December 3 at 7:00 pm. Come as a family to enjoy a fun night outside together with a creative movie, The Star, that shows the story of the most important part of Christmas – the birth of our savior, Jesus! Bring your chairs and/or blankets to see the movie that touches the hearts of young and old. Free admission – You must register prior to your arrival and will show your confirmation code for admission. Click here to register.
DSC Blood Drive – One Blood: On Sunday from 8:30-1:30 the big red bus from One Blood will be in our parking lot. Please consider donating blood to serve our community. They are offering free health checks and a Walmart gift card as a thank you.
Birthday for Jesus: Don’t you love birthday parties? Come celebrate the birth of Jesus – the best birthday ever! We’ve created this free event designed just for families with children ages 3 through 5th grade. Parents are welcome to accompany them and join in the fun or drop off their child(ren). Saturday, December 11 at 9:00 am. We will end the birthday party with a special presentation for the parents at 11:30 am. Click here to register.
Puerto Rico DSC Mission Trip: An application form, with payment included, will be shared in the coming days. If you filled out the interest form, we will email it to you directly or you can find it on the DSC app. Please be sure you will be available to travel these days in regards to work/ family prior to submitting the application form. Our desire is to take a full team of 12 to support the mission work there. Since half of the team must be fluent in Spanish, we will process the application forms in the order they are submitted and to fill the necessary Spanish language ability. Here is the interest form again if you need it.
Countdown to Christmas Gathering: Christmas is coming! We are excited to offer you some tools to use to help stay focused on the true meaning of the season. Gather together with others – to support each other as a family in Christ! Let’s encourage one another and use the relationships God has given to us to share the peace that we have through Jesus! You can pick up your Countdown to Christmas Gathering Kit after worship on Saturday, Dec 4th or Sunday, Dec 5th. In it, we will provide you with tools to make it simple. Who can you invite?
Christmas Eve Publicity: Pick up a yard sign and some postcard invitations to share! You can also engage with and share our Divine Savior Church posts on Instagram or Facebook. Every little bit helps us reach more of our community!
