Dear Church Family,
When I was about ten years old, I went on my first long distance train ride from Milwaukee, WI to Albuquerque, NM. From there we drove further south to El Paso, TX where my Grandparents lived.
To this day I remember happily what an incredible journey it was. It was so different than flying there because on this journey I could actually see…and experience…and slowly take it all in.
I saw factories in cities and cornfields in the countryside. I saw the gritty, graffiti filled urban heart of major cities for the first time. Yet I also experienced the breathtaking beauty of prairies, majestic mountains, and deserts filled with blooming flowers.
I think now that riding on a train across the country is kind of like reading through the Bible. It’s a slow, long, winding journey with many sights to see. Sometimes it’s uncomfortable and gritty. Sometimes it’s overwhelmingly beautiful and majestic. In the end, it’s sure to be memorable!
That’s why I want to invite you to come on a yearlong “train ride” with me through the Bible this year. Simply click here to accept my personal invitation to join The One Year Bible Chronological reading plan to join me and others from our church family using the YouVersion Bible app. You can also join along using our DSC app.
Together we’ll see in chronological order the Bible’s big story arc of the redemption we have through Jesus. There will be some familiar sights to be sure. But I can also guarantee that you’ll see some things you never saw before! And what you notice you can share with the rest of us.
The reading plan starts today, but you can also join at any time. If you miss a day here and there, that’s ok. Just jump back in wherever you’re at.
Got questions? Send me an email.
All aboard! Let’s go on a journey with the Lord.
God bless,
Pastor Ben
