Dear Church Family,
God became man and lived life in our place. He was fully devoted to his Father. Christ therefore lived the perfect God-lived life. Living as a Christian, a “little Christ”, we have the privilege of demonstrating what God looks like in how we live our lives, in living lives that show God to the world. For the next three weeks, God’s Word will be challenging us, and we’ll be challenging one another to live a God-lived life. And that encompasses everything.
We’ll be talking about a life of service, a life of hospitality, and a life of generosity.
Please join us this weekend whether on Saturday at 5:00 pm or at Sunday 9:30 am as we begin this three-week series. Note that this Sunday morning we will welcome the 5th grade students from our academy and their parents to worship with us and the kids to sing the song they’ve been practicing in school, “Lord I Need You.” This means Sunday morning we expect to have a joyfully full house for worship. There are usually plenty of seats available during the Saturday service at 5:00 pm for any of you who’d like a little more room to spread out in a room that feels less full.
ICYMI: Feeling weary, tired, anxious, or worn down by the weight of it all? Be sure and watch the message I preached last Sunday on “Stopping the Taskmasters” as we finished our series The Rest of God. Remember you can always share the archived messages with others whether from YouTube or our podcast. It’s a great, easy way to give someone else the gospel!
Revelation Bible Study: Pastor Caleb Davisson’s Bible study on Revelation continues this Sunday from 11:00-11:50 am in the high school commons. All are welcome—teens and adults alike! Just come on over. Newcomers welcome.
Supporting the Kurbis Family: Please pray for the Kurbis Family. Phil and Shanna Kurbis, along with their two children, Gavin and Maelyn, have been a part of our Divine Savior Church Family for over seven years. As you may know, Shanna received the difficult news of a cancer diagnosis in December. Shanna is currently receiving treatments in Minnesota where her mother and father can help her and the two kids, while Phil continues to travel back and forth to Miami for work and treatments. While the Kurbis family has not asked for anything more than our prayers, we are asking our church family to support them during this challenging time. Please consider making a donation that will be put toward various restaurant and grocery store gift cards to help alleviate their daily expenses. We also ask that you keep this young family in your prayers during this time and ask for God’s healing hand to restore Shanna to full health soon. We are going to be setting up a “Kurbis Family Help” fund to designate your gift via our online giving portal or you can bring or send a check to church with the memo “Kurbis Family Help.”
All Pro Dad’s Day!: Any dads and their kids who are in Kindergarten through 5th grade can team up with other dads and kids at our school once a month for All Pro Dad! We meet before school from 7:00-8:00 AM in the high school commons for a free breakfast and a character based-curriculum that helps dads start meaningful conversations with their kids. RSVP on our chapter website for our next monthly breakfast on February 17th. Questions? Contact Pastor Ben.
Congregational Update: We have new information regarding our building project of the new worship and ministry center, as well as other important updates. Please join us on Sunday February 27 immediately after the worship service. Grab a cup of coffee and meet in the high school commons.
