Dear Church Family,
Life can be extremely difficult sometimes. That is true even for disciples of Jesus. Yet difficult circumstances in life often provide excellent opportunities to show the love of Christ by doing good to and for others. Jesus showed love and did good, so we reflect Christ by showing love and doing good even though our best efforts will always be imperfect. Yet even our imperfect efforts, when motivated by the love of Christ, can provide opportunities to tell people why we want to help—because we have a perfect Savior who lived and died for us all!
Where then can we look to find such opportunities to do good? Most often we won’t have to go far. Rather the daily activities of our vocations often provide us with many people to love. Every vocation is “God’s mask” to love other people. When we make doing good to others a habit, we’ll slow down to invest time in talking with a person, seeking to understand what is best for them in a given situation.
Join me this weekend as we continue our series 5 Habits of a Disciple on Saturday at 5:00 pm or Sunday at 9:30 am to learn about our second habit, “Do Good.”
Note: This Sunday we get to welcome our DSA High School Choir which will be singing in our Sunday morning service! This is an awesome opportunity to worship with them, show our love and support for them, and share Christ’s love also with their families.
ICYMI: Watch Pastor Andrew Johnston’s message from last Sunday about the habit “Eyes Open For Opportunities.”
DSYouth: Today, Friday, May 6 from 6:00-8:30 pm, all students in middle or high school (beginning with grade 6 through 12th grade) are welcome to join us for DSYouth! Parents, if you have a child participating for the 1st time ever in DSYouth, please fill out the parent consent and student registration. Click here for English.
Mother’s Day Weekend: Celebrate with us as we honor moms and give thanks to God for them! Invite your whole family to attend worship with you and enjoy the day together. We’ll have a photo booth and light refreshments to enjoy outside after the service and flowers for any woman who wants one. We also hope you take a moment to greet someone you don’t yet know! Choose to attend our worship services in English either on Saturday, May 7th 5:00 pm or Sunday, May 8th at 9:30 am. Any DSYouth students who can help serve, please check your email for a needs request from Staff Minister Becky or contact her directly.
Mommy & Me: Monday, May 9 from 8:45 – 10:00 am. Enjoy a fun morning with your little one at Mommy & Me, where you can connect with others through storytime, music & movement, and play! There will be no Saturday evening worship service. On Sunday we will have one bilingual worship service in the high school gymnasium, followed by a cake reception in the commons.
Camp South: Camper registration is almost full! Every year, Divine Savior Church takes a group of youth to Camp South, a Bible Camp for youth entering 5th-9th grades. At Camp, kids get to study God’s Word, develop Christian friendships, and grow in their faith. Camp South takes place in Covington, Georgia from July 25-29th, 2022. Check out the 2021 Camp South video here to see what camp is like. Registration is still open. Find all the info and registration link on the Divine Savior Church app home page (Doral campus).
